Domestic violence is a leading yet often overlooked cause of brain injury. Physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists are uniquely positioned to support survivors whose neurological symptoms may result from repeated assaults, strangulation, or head, neck, or facial trauma. This session will explore the intersection of brain injury and domestic violence including groundbreaking research from Ohio, discuss common clinical presentations, address unique considerations in working with domestic violence survivors, and highlight practical strategies for trauma-informed, survivor-centered care in medical settings.
